General Chat / AGDQ 2015 is going on... NOW
« on: January 04, 2015, 05:39:25 PM »
Hey guys! AGDQ 2015 is going on right now! It's a speedrunning event held by the SpeedDemosArchive to raise money for charity! This year they're raising money for Prevent Cancer.

The site can be found here (along with the line up of games being played) https://gamesdonequick.com/

Here's the link to watch right now! http://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

The knowledge of these guys on their specific game is fantastic. Even if you're not interested in speedrunning, it's very interesting.

TheSimsDude, hold on to your pants. You can burn down all of those Sims for free this time!

Here's what you need to do to get it:

Create an Origin account (http://www.origin.com) if you don't already have one.

Install the Origin program from the site above.

Either go to: https://account.origin.com/cp-ui/redemption/index or in the Origin Launcher go to "Games" and "Redeem Product Code"

For the product code, type in "I-LOVE-THE-SIMS"

Then, just install it via the Origin game client!

If you are confused at any point, here is the link to the official EA article: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-get-the-sims-2-ultimate-collection/

128bit.me Announcements / It's been a good run...
« on: June 25, 2013, 02:45:26 PM »
But, I’m stepping down from my position of the Sega Moderator.

Within the past year I have pretty much become an in-home care provider and simply cannot find the time between my daily life activities. I am running a YouTube channel and soon will be taking four AP classes in high school so I really just won’t have the time to work on the site. I figure it would be better to get it over with now when the site is calm then to do it when the site becomes busy during the time when college kids want to relive their memories from 2003.

I’ll still be around, but only for messing around.

So… This is the part where I’m supposed to say see ya later… right?

Err… Yeah.

See you later,
TASE

To make it easier to fill requests and lessen the chances of your thread being forgotten about.

1. You are allowed to make multiple game requests in one thread, as long as they are for the same console and same region.

2. The name of the game AND region MUST be in the title. In case of multiple games, just put the number of games and region.
-Example: The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker (PAL) -or- 3 PAL games -or- 3 The Legend Of Zelda games (NTSC-J)

3. Check the master list BEFORE posting a unfilled request. If the game is already there, your thread will be deleted without further notice.
3a. In case of dead links add REUP in the thread.
-Example:REUP: The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker (PAL)

4. If you notice your topic has been moved or deleted be sure to check the filled request section to see if its been filled

These rules are set for two reasons. To reduce clutter and to get the request filled as fast as possible. Violation of these rules will cause topics to be deleted or changed.

Thanks!

Tutorials / How to Auto Join a Channel on mIRC
« on: May 19, 2013, 08:18:51 PM »
Auto-joining on mIRC is a very annoying task. However, if you follow this guide, it will go from being a hard task, to an easy task.

First Step:

Open mIRC.

You will be greeted to a screen much like that.

Second Step:

Put your nickname and an alternative nickname. Most people just put the exact same thing for their nickname and alternative nickname except for an underscore for your alternative. However, you can do what you want.

Third Step:

Go to File > Select Server.

Fourth Step:

You will be greeted with the window below.

When you are at this point, click on "Add."

Fifth Step:

Enter what I have below EXACTLY in the same places and then press "Add."

Sixth Step:

You will approach the screen below.

When you are there, go to "Tools" then "Script Editor."

(Alternatively, press ALT + R)

Seventh Step:

Open this webpage: http://pastebin.com/DNJGAi4s

Copy and paste this into the Script Editor window.

It should look like this:

However, DO NOT PRESS "OK" YET.

I will guide you through what you need to change.

Where it says "youralias," place your nickname there. For example, I would place "TASE_XP" there.

Next, replace the two places where it says "yournick" with your nickname. For example, I would place "TASE_XP" there.

If you are planning on staying a while, add a password. Just place your password where it says, "password."

Press "OK."

Eighth Step:

Click on the little lightning bolt in the left corner. (Alternatively, go to "File" and click on "Connect."

Ninth Step:

If this is your first time installing mIRC, you will need to "Unblock" the program in your firewall. Windows will ask you to do this automatically.

Tenth Step:

You will be greeted with the window below. Uncheck the two checkmarks on the bottom of the window.

Eleventh Step:

Chat and have fun!

Twelfth Step:

THIS IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL

Remember the password thing? Well, once you connect, type this into your input bar (without the quotation marks.)

"/nickserv register put-your-password-here put-your-email-address-here"

There you go! You can now just open mIRC and will automatically connect to 128bit.me's IRC channel!

*NOTE* I do not want a million PMs asking for help. Please post a reply and we will be able to help you.

Tutorials / [Intel/PowerPC] How to Create RAR Files on Mac OS X
« on: May 19, 2013, 06:53:10 PM »
You obviously stumbled upon this thread as you are a Mac user and you'd love to create a RAR file for completely legal purposes. You just switched to mac and realized, "Pooey, it's hard to create a RAR file with RARLabs' command-line application. I might as well install Windows 7 just so I can create this one RAR." However, there is a simpler way than having to install Windows or use some poorly designed RAR creation tool.

NOTE: Alternatively you can use this tutorial if you don't like the looks of Rarify: http://128bit.me/index.php?topic=27353.0

First Step:

Download this: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/28008/rarify

Second Step:

Go to the enclosing folder and extract the .zip file yo.

Third Step:

Open the Rarify folder and drag the application into your Applications folder.

Fourth Step:

Drag the program from your Applications folder into your Dock. (It makes it easier to compress the file later.)

Fifth Step:

Open Rarify and click "Open" when you get the dialog box below.

Sixth Step:

You will get the message below. Don't panic. Just click "Okay."

Seventh Step:

Allow Rarify to make changes. It's okay, it's not going to download porn onto your computer.

Eighth Step:

Jump around and be happy for 13 seconds if you get the dialog box below.

Ninth Step:

With Rarify open, go to your Menu Bar (top bar on your Mac,) go to Rarify > Preferences. If you see the box below, then you are good.

Tenth Step:

Change the settings if you want. Here's a general guide for them.

Compression Level

How compressed the RAR will be. You will usually want this all the way to the right.

Output Destination

This is where it will put all the RARs you create. If you leave it as "Same as Destination." It will put it where the files you RAR'd are. However, if you want to put it in a specific folder, you can do that.

Using a Password

If you want to password-protect your RARs then you will want to select this and put a password in it. You must remember the password as you will not be able to open the RAR without it.

Create Segments

If you are familiar with this, it will create parts if you select it. I usually set it as 200mb for the part size as that's the largest file size MediaFire will take. You may want to read your file host's limit before setting this. It will create .part01, .part02, etc.

The rest are unnecessary. The "Beep" feature is broken so it doesn't matter if you change the settings or not. The only one you may want is "Quit after done."

Eleventh Step:

Drag your file(s) to the Rarify icon. This will start the RARing process.

Twelfth Step:

Wait. It will create your RAR and place it in the destination you specified.

There you go. You can now create all the RARs you want!
